The Swan now has a Community Defibrillator
The Swan in Clewer is pleased to report that, thanks to the hard work of the Windsor Community Defibrillator Partnership (WCDP), we are now the proud owners of our very own Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The machine has been fully installed on the outside of the pub and is live and ready to go if needed.
A huge thank you must go to the Shanly Foundation for sponsoring the AED and members of the community who helped donate towards getting it up and running. Particular thanks must go to Dawn Chojnacki, who has generously covered the cost of the installation of the AED in memory of her husband Adrian, who passed away unexpectedly in March this year.
Adrian Chojnacki, a retired doctor, was an investor, supporter and founder member of our Weekday Warrior volunteer group. Having an AED accessible to the community was something that he had suggested and championed for The Swan since our early days. We therefore feel that realizing his vision is a fitting tribute to a kind and caring man, who meant a great deal to so many of us at The Swan and will be dearly missed.
As soon as we are able, we also plan to hold training courses at The Swan to give people the opportunity to understand how the AED works so that members of the community are able to operate it safely, with the support of Berkshire Ambulance Service.
