  • St. Albans Beer & Pubs Festival Wednesday 1 September 2021 St. Alban's Area

St Albans’ famous annual beer and cider festival will take a different form in 2021 – and be held in the city’s pubs. The event, which has historically drawn thousands of ale and cider fans into the city centre each September, will for the first time be run across a number of venues, in collaboration with local publicans.

Organised by South Herts CAMRA, the festival was held at the Alban Arena for 24 years. But after the devastation caused by Covid-19, we’ve decided that encouraging people back into pubs must be the priority this time around.

Safeguarding the future of community pubs is a key part of CAMRA’s mission and, in this 50th anniversary of the Campaign, we want to put that into practice more than ever before. For anyone used to our previous festivals in the Alban Arena, this will be quite different - but it will be just as exciting.

We’re currently in discussion with a group of St Albans licensees to shape the event, and further details - including participating venues and the beers and ciders due to be showcased - will be announced between now and September.

Updates will be published on our website - so please follow us and keep checking back for the latest news!

  • 37th Pig's Ear Beer & Cider Festival - POSTPONED FROM 2020 Tuesday 30 November – Saturday 4 December 2021 Pig's Ear venue

This is the 2020 festival that was cancelled. You may remember that the Pig's Ear team put a lot of work into organising a Covid safe Pig’s Ear for December 2020, but sadly the new Tier 2 restrictions made it impossible to run an indoor beer festival at that time.

However, The Pig’s Ear Beer & Cider Festival returns on 30th November to the Round Chapel in Hackney, but will be subject to a lot of things outside our control. Keep your fingers crossed that the festival will happen with the usual offerring of different types of beer, cider and perry.

Round Chapel, Glenarm Rd, Hackney, London, E5 0LY.

Check out the website to see how a socially distanced beer festival will work.

  • Haddenham Winter Fest Saturday 11 December 2021 Haddenham Winter Fest

The Winterfest is not only a Real Ale Festival but also a Christmas Party. It runs from from midday to 6pm and the event is staged at Haddenham Community Junior School, Woodways, Haddenham HP17 8DS. In keeping with all good festivals at this time of the year we have plenty of mulled wine plus our famous Gin Fusion Bar.

While it’s not normally as loud and boisterous as its larger summer counterpart the Winterfest is always a wonderful community event with plenty on offer. There’s live music, hot and cold food and every year without fail we get a number of visits from the Haddenham Mummers. Once again all money raised goes towards the Trust’s efforts in supporting good causes in the village and the surrounding area. So come along and enjoy there will be at least 40 different ales to try!
